So, you love St. Augustine too?! We totally get it, beautiful cobblestone streets and quaint old city vibes. It’s THE perfect location to invite family and friends to celebrate all the magic of your wedding day! As seasoned wedding photographers based out of Jacksonville Florida and Palm Coast Florida, we have had the honor of capturing many love stories in our favorite city nestled right between us, St. Augustine!
With the ocean close by, sail boats coasting along the river, and historic buildings and shops to stroll past, it’s got everything to help write this next chapter of your lives together as you say I do to your best friend.
Typically couples begin their wedding planning journey by finding which venue they want to seal the deal at. This is because you want to nail down a location + date before reaching out to other vendors as they will need to confirm their availability for your date! With that said, we wanted to dish about our favorite King Street St. Augustine wedding venues and hopefully save you a little time finding one that fits into certain aspects of your decision like vibes, guest count, and even parking.
The Lightner Museum
Let’s start with the heart of downtown St. Augustine, The Lightner Museum! Located at 75 King Street in St. Augustine, this amazing wedding venue was originally opened in 1888 by Henry Flagler as the grand Hotel Alcazar and hosted an array of grand celebrations.
There is so much history and beauty within this amazing building. Having been apart of intimate weddings, full guest list weddings, and everything in between here, we have to emphasize how versatile this venue is!
For couples looking to have a more intimate celebration we highly suggest the outdoor courtyard. With the historic details of the Lightner surrounding you and the beautiful rock bridge that’s nestled over a koi pond to say your ‘I do’s’, it’s a sweet and romantic spot for your wedding story plus there are so many gorgeous places around the Lightner for bride + groom portraits and family portraits. The Lightner does require insurance and permits for use, but is all included in their packages! Checkout lightnermuseumcourtyardwedding.com to get more deets and inquire about pricing for a courtyard wedding.
If you are planning a larger scale wedding and want to be indoors, the ‘Historic Pool’ which was once the world’s largest indoor swimming pool, is a super unique setting with two dreamy grand staircases perfect for a dramatic first entrance as husband + wife. It’s also 3 stories high with string lights gliding across the room bringing all the vibes, and boasts plenty of space for all the events within your day including bride + groom suites for getting ready, ceremony, cocktails, dinner, and dancing! A bonus with this location is that you not only get to experience all the amazingness the Historic Pool offers, you also are able to have portraits captured by the outdoor courtyard area and around the nearby city streets that are rich with those lovely old city vibes. The White Room
Next up on our list of faves is The White Room!
Just around the corner from The Lightner you can find The White Room! Located at 1 King Street, The White Room overlooks the Matanzas River and what’s even better, they offer a spectacular rooftop area that allows the river to be the backdrop for your wedding ceremony + reception! Picture a beautiful afternoon sun glow and sailboats coasting by as you say your I do’s + sip on champagne!
If you prefer to be indoors, especially during our hot Florida summers, the Villa Blanca room is a breath taking space that boasts the perfect canvas to create the vibe of your dreams! It has pristine white walls with amazing arched beams in the ceiling, pine wood floors, and gorgeous chandeliers that add to the unique dimension of the room. It’s jaw-dropping! From getting ready to sparkler exit, this venue has everything!
They have both groom and bridal suites that are gorgeously styled and offer a really beautiful space to photograph finishing touches of hair and makeup, sipping some champagne, slipping on and showing off your dress to your besties, and those last few moments before you marry your other half.
The Grand Ballroom is located just on the other side of the hall from the Villa Blanca and is THE perfect spot for all the evenings activities – grand entrances, speeches, dinner, and of course, dancing!
There is a lot of beautiful natural light from the river front windows and when it was renovated back in 2006, they found the original brick buried behind plastered walls and never looked back. It’s the perfect event space and what’s more, they offer their own upscale dining menu prepared by an executive chef in-house! Casa Monica Resort
Nestled between The Lightner + The White Room, you’ll find The Casa Monica Resort. Located at 95 Cordova Street, this Venue sits right along King Street and can serve you and your guests in all aspects. Considering this is a resort wedding venue, a huge perk is that they offer room blocking with special pricing for your guests + valet parking!
Pets are allowed, and if you have special welcome bags you’d like delivered to your guests, they can take care of that for you! The resort gives off an elegant European vibe with dramatic architecture features, paintings, and sculptures created by renowned artists from across the globe and has an iconic entrance with steps that are a must stop portrait spot. It’s location sits on one of our favorite little cobblestone streets for first looks and portraits, and is right across the street from the Lightner Museum with even more photo opportunities!
They have three options for your ceremony, the Sultan’s Pavilion by the pool illuminated with bistro lighting, and the Casa Monica Ballroom or Flagler Ballroom both accented with handcrafted Moroccan chandeliers and beautiful works of art! They can host up to 250 guests and offer an amazing menu for both your rehearsal and wedding day dinner, and even offer a farewell brunch for the day after! Now to the fun stuff – Parking! 😉
After diving into the wedding venues around King Street in Historic St. Augustine, Florida, we’d like to chat about parking! With most historic cities, parking comes in limited quantities, so we though it’d be worth noting! Parking is tight in this area so we are offering you our pro tips to get you and your guests to your celebration more easily!
For smaller, more intimate weddings there isn’t much hassle in having your guests find metered parking spots along the streets and a few parking lots. Parking is free after 5pm Monday – Saturday, and free on Sundays. Cars parked at the meter’s between 8am – 5pm have to pay a rate of $2.50/hour. Guests will need to know their license plate number to type in when they pay at the meter which can conveniently be paid by cash or card.
If you are planning a larger scale wedding with a lot of guests you could rent shuttles for your guests, have them car pool with each other, or you could inquire about reserving the parking lot of Trinity Parish Church, it’s a quick walk over to the White Room or Lightner and easy for guests to find and park at! Find more info about renting their parking lot here: https://trinitysta.org/rentals.
